CINCINNATI - A man ordered by a judge to make sure his daughter studied has found himself in jail because she failed to earn a high school equivalency diploma.
Brian Gegner, who lives near Cincinnati, was sentenced last week to 180 days in jail for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.
He was ordered months ago to make sure his 18-year-old daughter Brittany Gegner, who has a history of truancy, received the diploma known as GED — something that hasn't happened yet.

Brittany Gegner, who said Monday that she plans to take a required GED test this month, said her father shouldn't be blamed for her failure because she has been living with her mother.
"It was my wrongdoing, not his," said Brittany Gegner, whose fiance and 18-month-old daughter also live at her mother's home. "He shouldn't have to go to jail for something I did."
Her mother agrees.
"Brittany is almost 19 years old now and I think it's unfair to put her father in jail," said Shana Roach. "She's an adult now, and it's not right to rip an innocent man from his home."
Juvenile Court administrator Rob Clevenger Jr. said Monday that the court still has jurisdiction in the case because Brittany Gegner was a juvenile when the truancy problems began and when the charge against Brian Gegner was filed in 2007.
A hearing on a motion filed by Brian Gegner's attorney to reconsider the sentence is scheduled for Friday. Messages seeking comment were not returned Monday at the offices of defense attorney Tamara Sack and the prosecutor.
Brian Gegner's wife, Stephanie Gegner, said she and her husband are afraid he will lose his job if he remains in jail. She said they tried to keep his daughter in school.
"You'd take her to school and she'd go out the other door," Stephanie Gegner said.

I agree with most of what you said besides the part where you said we vote for the same thing. Just consider yourself a republican and stop complaining about it. Presidents get their votes and try their best to help us. Republicans don't like school or government help, nor do they like this brainwashing. Choosing a side will be the only way you can make a difference.

Just a heads up.. This is going to be a long and confusing post, but please bear with me.
So a little background before I get to the point.
I never went to school... Well I was technically "Home Schooled" from age 5 to 10, but my Mother (who was my teacher) never actually taught me much and by age 8 I was no longer doing anything educational and I was pretty much raising myself. At age 11 I started attending middle school, but I was only in school for a very short time before I was pulled out because of "family problems". I did not attend any type of school again until I was 14 (almost 15) when I was enrolled as a freshman in High School... In between that time I had done no Home Schooling or anything educational besides little tid bits of things I would learn from my friends. Anyways.. When I turned 15 I was pulled out of school again and over the years (until age 17) I had moved 7 times to various places in NC and FL and I would basically just hop from one school to the next (I honestly have no idea how this worked out, but I managed to get to the 10th grade). So at age 17 I realized that I would not be able to graduate with all the moving and because I was always extremely bad in math, so I dropped out. (Bigggg mistake.)
Now I am 18 and I am attending Adult Education classes in FL. I moved out of my parents house and I am now staying with my grandmother until I get my GED and hopefully go to college.
But I have a big problem. I was recently tested for a math disability (Dyscalculia) and the results came up positive. My test scores are normal in reading and above average in some other areas, but my math scores are extremely low. On top of that I had very low scores in broad attention and short term memory which worries me because I could have sworn I gave my 100% undivided attention while taking the test. But whatever. My IQ came out to 88.. Which didn't really worry me to much because I think IQ's are bull crap, but ever since I took this test people are treating me differently. Like my "teacher" in adult ed... Before I took this test he was very confident that I could pass the GED test with no problems and suggested that I hire a private tutor to help me in math, but after I took the test and was diagnosed with a math disability he has sent me to reading, writing and math class. Both of my "teachers" from reading and writing say I don't need to be there and that I should focus more on math (and I agree with them), but the man in charge keeps insisting that I should stay in all of these classes, even though before he saw no need for me to go to any before.
Besides all of this I have been trying very hard to learn math/algebra... I find it's extremely difficult and stressful, especially since I have family members on my back about it constantly. They think that I am faking this disability when I am not. Sometimes when I think I understand something math related it turns out that I actually have it extremely wrong and I never figure this out until it's to late. This worries me a lot because I feel like something as simple as a GED is out of reach for me because of my disability. It's been 4 months since I started in this program and I have made no progress mathematically. I was wondering if my IQ could possibly have something to do with this? And if there is any help for people like me in the state of FL?
After (if) I get my GED I want to attend DMAC (digital media arts college) because well, I've always had a passion for art. But I was wondering if my IQ scores would prevent me from getting into a college like that..? And also what types of math classes are required to attain a bachelors degree in graphic design? Would this even be possible for me?
Major kudos if you read all of that, I really appreciate any help I can get.
I was also wondering if my IQ score is correct? I know it has nothing to do with knowledge, but I feel like the score is a little low.

I want to know more about "sex", but my mom says i shouldn't. Im not quite understanding why. Im 24 and I live with my mother. She is a single mother and a darn good mother too. But she says that im to young to know about any of this. She is also my favorite teacher, and she always give me treats when I pass a test. I am what they call "Home Schooled" . My mom says sex is for the dumb people that don't know what their doing. but i want to know if I am somewhat curious to know more about this. I don't want to be punished by my mother, but I think i want to know about this "thing" that I go urinate with. It sometimes....well......"grows"at points.....but Im scared that's somethings wring with me, my mom says that, that only happens to people that do something bad.....i don't know what to do.

There has been some debate about the proper use of the compound word: Home School.
Which of these word phrases/compound words are spelled correctly?
home school
Homeschool
home-school
Home Schooling
Homeschooling
home-schooling
Home Schooled
Homeschooled
home-schooled
Home Schooler
Homeschooler
home-schooler
Is this a question of syntax, grammar, spelling, word usage, familiarity, or just individual preference? Does the spelling depend on where the word is used, how the word is used, who uses the word, or the context in which the word is used?
Do we have a home school and homeschool our children? As a mom who teaches her children at home, am I home-schooling? Am I a homeschooling mom?
Please excuse the redundancy of parts of my question. I'm trying to determine whether the spelling is as flexible as it seems to be based on articles and letters that I have seen written by others in publications devoted to teaching children at home.
Please note that as far as I know the word homeschool has not made it into any standard dictionary yet. If anyone has the word in their dictionary, please share what you know. I'm interested.
I call myself home schooling mother because it looks better in my ID as three words. Given that it isn't in the dictionary, I chose to go with that.

It's not public school or private school or even home-schooling. It's un-schooling. I read an article about it or something. So pretty much parents file their kids under "home-schooling" but don't do really anything at all. They let their kids stay at home and watch t.v. and if they want to read, they can do so. (But what do you think a kid is going to pick?)
Would you want to be "un-schooled"?
In the article it was funny because the parents seemed so serious, and said stuff about how the kids need to learn themselves, not be taught.
But how are they going to survive in the real world and job world with no education!?
