"Hay, Lux, I was thinking..."
"Oh crap."
"What?"
"Were you thinking?"
"Yes"
"Then that's my problem." My mischevious grin spread across my face, making Tyler sigh. "Can I please just tell you my plan?"
"Will I regret it?"
"Regret what?" A look of confusion came across his face. Now it was MY turn to sigh. Gay people can be so stupid.
"Never mind." I turned to walk to school, but the Gay Lord followed me, even though he is Home Schooled. "Just tell me, Lux." A pleading look sread across his pathitic face.
"Does it involove fashion?"
He looked like he just won the Grammies. "Yes."
I groaned. "Fine, but ONLY if you agree to do my homework for a year."
"Done." And with that, he pulled out a peice of paper with some kind of gay fasion thingy. "So, what do you think?"
I glanced down at the paper. He had designed a woman's outfit, boot cut jeans, and a halter top. The lady had a bunch of random braclets on her left wrist. The top was navy blue, and the pants were white. I have to admit, he did a pretty good job.

Ok so my 10 yr old son gets excellent grades, on honor roll, but I am constantly getting calls from school that he is in trouble (talking, arguing...) so, the teacher starts in with the ADHD talk, his dr., or anyother teacher has ever approched me with the ADHD talk. I just found out that this is the teachers 2nd year teaching and there are 32 kids in the class, 20 of which parents dont speak english. Now the school wants permission to test him for the "Gifted Program" I am starting to wonder if the teacher has ADHD?!? I dont quite know how to handle her calls to my home when she is on the phone complaining about my son and his "behavior" In my opioion what he is doing is probably annoying yes, but not violent or disrespectful. How do I handle this woman, without her feeling like I dont care, as I do....

My husband's little brother, Sean, is 11 years old. My 3 year old loves going to Grandma's house to play with him and visit with the family. They love having him over and it's great to have a place for him to stay when we are taking care of business that requires both of us.

But lately when my son comes home, he says things that lead me to believe that Sean (and actually, Grandma too) is beginning to be a bad influence on him. The last time he came back saying he "hated" this and that. I asked him where he heard that word and he said "Sean hates kids. Sean hates me." So I bring it up to Grandma and she asks Sean did he say that to my son. Of course he says no. He was defensive and denying it before she even fully asked him the question.

There are other things too, though. Like how he tends to tell me "NO!" more after he gets back from a visit. And he'll go over there liking pickles (for example) and come back telling me that they are "gross". Uncle Sean is a notoriously picky eater and Grandma always prepares 2 meals, one for the family and one for Sean, which I think is ridiculous.

As for Grandma also being a bad influence, she refuses to discipline him while he's there. We have a system where if he misbehaves or starts whining a lot, he goes to his room for a cool down. She won't even do that!

Plus, because she is scared of our large dog she's got him terrified of her too, telling him that the dog will bite him. The dog stays gated in the kitchen when she (the dog) and the kids are in the house at the same time. She is also gentle with them to the point that I will let my 18 month old daughter feed her. The reason she stays separated from them is because she is so big and even if she's playing, she could hurt them accidentally. But now he goes in to hysterics when I even walk the dog on a leash through the room he is in, even if she's not near him.

Whenever I bring up the subject with Grandma it's always "Well, kids are like that. There's nothing you can do. You'll learn in time." While I know she's got lots more experience raising children, none of hers have turned out very well. Her oldest is 26, unemployed, no vehicle, lives with her, and is unbelievably lazy. Her middle child (my husband) was in and out of trouble throughout his childhood, did terribly in school, she let him drop-out and go to Home School where she did his homework for him, and stayed in trouble up until we got together and I told him I couldn't be with him if he was going to stay in trouble all the time. And now the youngest, Sean, got into trouble at school for calling his teachers bad names, has gone to "home school," has no chores or responsibilities, is disrespectful, and is allowed to do nothing but lay around all day playing video games, watching TV, and eating junk food. There are no rules in that household.

My son absolutely loves going over there. But I just don't see how I can allow him to stay there without one of us, knowing how she lets him get away with everything and how Sean has been influencing him.

Can anyone give me some advice??
"Hate" isn't that bad when it's used correctly. But in my opinion, a 3 year old shouldn't even know what hate is. What happens when he tells his sister or us (his parents) that he hates them? If he starts using the word to describe other things, it's sure to end up that way.
me: She is not an everyday babysitter. I stay home with my children during the week, and when Saturday rolls around he used to go spend time at Grandma's while Dad and I did maintenance around the house. But with him coming back acting this way, I don't even want him to go then.
Oh, and apparently Britannia Boy doesn't understand what an example is or that children shouldn't be allowed to do certain things (like hit, kick and spit) regardless of the caregiver.
Violet: THANK YOU! Finally an answer that makes a little sense. By the way, the dog stays at our house and my son goes to theirs, so Grandma is never subject to being around the dog. But she has seen the dog and is terrified of her, so she has been telling my son that the dog will bit him if he gets close to her.

So first off I'm a 90's kid and an only child. since we first got a computer and the internet at home when i was five years old, my mom has barely paid any attention to me at all. she cooked for me if i bugged her for long enough but that's it. she would never play with me. she wouldn't read to me, take me to the park, or anything. she ignored me for the most part. I won't say she ruined my childhood because my dad made up for it when he wasn't working. He'd take me to movies and out to eat and stuff but my mom would always refuse to go with us because she was always on "chat programs". When I was about 6 years old she bought a webcam and had an internet relationship with a younger man in canada even though she was still married to my dad. it went on for years but they broke up. she had a lot of other "boyfriends" on the internet.my dad never knew about any of them. when i was 16 shed talk to me a bit but only about her internet friends. she never asked how i was doing or how school was or anything..well i'm gonna be turning 18 soon. for about a year now I haven't been able to talk to her at all. she started being a "DJ" over the internet. shes does it all the time and if i try to talk to her while shes doing it she snaps at me and tells me to shut up and leave her alone. She won't leave the house at all for any reason. I doubt she'll go to my graduation next year. she wont clean AT ALL. she barely showers and doesnt care what she looks like. I can not understand how she lives like this, I'd never be able to...anyway, one day i was curious and took her phone while she was sleeping and looked at her text messages and there were nasty pictures of her in the outbox and gross messages in the inbox.. plus she was talking badly about me and saying she can't wait until I move out and that I'm just annoying and in the way.I'm worried, because from what i understand, right now she's dating a 19 year old and she's 46. She's still married to my dad but they sleep in separate rooms and don't speak. I know she doesn't love me or care about me so don't try and tell me she does. After the end of next school year, I'll be moving out, and going away to college. As of right now I'm considering whether I should completely lose contact with her or not.I don't know why I should try to talk to her if she doesn't care that i exist. I'm wondering if there's any changing her, Any way I can pull her out of this cycle after all these years.. stop treating me like I don't matter at all even though I'm her only daughter. Is there any way I can get her to listen to me? I've tried time and time again telling her how I feel but she always tells me to shut up...please help me what do I do? =\
P.S. sorry so long.

I am currently a community college student who is looking to transfer. I am an American who was raised in Australia. My parents are super conservative and religious: they are Roman Catholic, Republican, Home Schoolers, and preach in your face pro-life. I beg to differ; I am not religious, Democrat, just barely allowed to go to high school, and definitely pro-contraception cause I don't want to get pregnant, nor do I want a bazillion kids. The problem is they are trying to do whatever they can to control where I go to school so I go somewhere with people like them!

When I was in 8th grade, I used to go around bragging about wanting to be an astronaut or Harvard and whatever. My Dad caught me bragging, and he told me "YOUR GOING TOP CHRISTENDOM (a super conservative Catholic college in northern Virginia), SO NO BOY GETS IN YOUR PANTS!" I stopped concentrating on school, so my parents signed me up for Catholic high school. I got in cause they had a dance program I did well in and got scholarship. At the same time, I made friends with a bunch of intellectual atheists/non-religious students and we used to study silly things and then worked together at the last minute on tests. I had straight As. Then they all left to go to the public school, and the only other kids in my grade were troublemakers. They shunned me; called me xenophobic names. Then I was stuck being this girl no one liked cause she had Downs Syndrome. When the dance teacher left town, there was no longer a dance program. I saw no reason to go anymore, so I asked my parents if I could either go to the public school for job certificates or if I could go to the Lutheran school cause they had S.A.T.s; my parents said "NO. WE'RE CATHOLIC. EITHER YOU GO TO THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL OR YOU DO Home School." So I was stuck there and came out with no S.AT.s, a C average, and a certificate which doesn't mean a thing outside the Northern Territory.

Here I am now, I'm living in Virginia, and I applied to 3 colleges to transfer into. I got into a liberal arts college in Virginia, a Catholic college in DC, and (cause my parents wanted me to) a State college in West Virginia. So far, I got a financial aid package from the two earlier schools that give me 1/2 in scholarships, and 1/2 in federal loans. Last night, my Dad and I talked about the schools. If I use the loans that go into my name, I got $9,000 to go to the DC college, $14,000 to go to the Virginia college. The West Virginia school didn't give me any financial aid package at all, and I have to pay $22,000 out of state tuition, but my Dad only wants me to go there! The more I find out about this place, the more I do not want to go it! I tried to call this girl about financial aid and I couldn't understand a bloody thing she was saying and kept going on about her boyfriend, I saw a bunch of students blast this teacher on rate my professor for being "Un-American", and the only clubs they have at this school are like protestants, sororities, republicans (no democrats) and whatever. Then my Dad keeps bugging me about how I should have applied to a conservative Catholic or Christian college cause they give them big schoalrships and hopw righteous they are cause they give big families everything and blah blah blah! I am really scared of their dissaproval; I don't date cause I'm not even allowed to date cause they go to this super strict church. The priest there like really interogated me about my past love life, and this priest is always going on about how evil women who disobey their husbands or father are; I don't talk top people at school cause my Dad said my one friend who got a grant was trash hugging up their money on welfare. They also say rude stuff about me inadvertantly like "young people don't like to work" (I work 4-5 days a week!) or "those selfish women are going to destroy our country cause they don't have 6 kids" (like they do) and worse, my Mom has called even me a "Nazi." Like I am going to like their stupid petty colleges!

Any advice would be hot :D
